Packageless citrus juice. Cantu says he discovered a sound-wave machine that can liquefy citrus from the inside.

Hangover-free beer. Cantu says the alcohol would have a time-release-capsule effect, popping in your blood stream but wearing off quickly. "It's quick release, quick breakdown in your body, no hangover. That's the end game." He acknowledges research and FDA approval likely would take years.

Soda pellets. Cantu says differences among soft drinks can be broken down into dry ingredients, so why do companies ship bottles and cans full of liquid? "If you take all those dry goods and turn them into, say, a pellet, which is easily done, and then you enable the user to take that pellet and put it in the can, then all they gotta do is add water," Cantu says.

His team is designing a reusable bottle that would ship with, say, six pellets attached, perhaps representing a variety of soft-drink lines. Now he's got to master the technology
